The sixth Correction (formation) of the beard of Zeir Anpin
Synopsis

This is called one of the five edges of the beard, that depends on Chesed, and one must not destroy this Chesed by cutting it.

291. The sixth Correction (formation): The hairs go out like one string of hair around the beard, MEANING THE UPPERMOST AREA OF THE BEARD THAT CONTINUES TO THE CHEST - SIMILAR TO THE EIGHTH CORRECTION (FORMATION) OF ARICH ANPIN. That is called one of the five edges of the beard, which depends on Chesed, and one must not destroy this Chesed, as we have learned. Therefore, it is written: "Neither shall you mar the corner of your beard" (Vayikra 19:27).

291. תִּקּוּנָא שְׁתִיתָאָה. נָפִיק שַׂעֲרָא, כְּחַד חוּטָא דְּשַׂעֲרֵי בְּסַחֲרָנֵיהּ דְּדִיקְנָא. פְּאַת הַזָּקָן וְאִיהוּ חַד מֵחָמֵשׁ פֵּאִין, דְּתַלְיָין בְּחֶסֶד, וְלָא אִבְעֵי לְחַבְּלָא הַאי חֶסֶד, כְּמָה דְּאִתְּמַר. וּבְגִין כַּךְ, לֹא תַּשְׁחִית אֵת פְּאַת זְקָנֶךָ כְּתִיב.
